Grant Kolton is a writer, director, and animator living in Los Angeles and specializing in 2d traditional frame by frame animation. He began his career animating and directing music videos for My Morning Jacket, Dave Matthews Band, Gogol Bordello, Cage the Elephant, and Snoop Dogg. He has extensive experience in short form animation for web, commercials, explanation, mixed-media live-action, and anything related to comedy.
Some previous clients include Pepsi, Bleacher Report, HP, McDonalds, AC Entertainment, and PayPal. His work has been featured on MTV, Vevo, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Variety, Filter, MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles), and The Hammer Museum.
Grant recently finished production on his short "City Dwellers" that was co-produced by Frederator and Sony Picture's Animation for the "Go! Cartoons" series on Cartoon Hangover which is out now.
Grant’s previous self-produced short film “By the Name of Boston” played at over 20 festivals internationally where it won a few awards including the Best International Super Short Film at Monstra Festival of Animation in Lisbon, Portugal. “By the Name of Boston” continues to travel on various ‘Best of Fest’ circuits across Europe, the US, and Australia/New Zealand. It has since received dozens of requests for screenings in addition to being listed as a Vimeo Staff Pick alongside his other film “No Back Dan.”
Currently Grant serves as chief-animator for Circa News where he produces, writes, directs, animates, and often voices original short form political satire and pop culture pieces on a monthly basis.
